yes, I know what this looks like.
I promise you, fried bananas are a delicacy you MUST try next time you visit an Asian restaurant. Once again harkoning back to the great state of Oregon, where I consumed myself into a state resembling a coma, this lovely treat looks sort of like a fried dick. On the other hand, it's absolutely delicious (the banana, that is).
What? I'm not gay.
Also, particularly good with coconut ice cream, if you can find it.

I'm back!
I took a short hiatus last week, as I spent most of the week in Portland, Oregon, enjoying the city. Now, I'm back, and I've come to share my delicious discoveries with you.
The first of these is the world-famous Voodoo doughnuts... linked here. This den of sugar and salt has everything a healthy, growing boy needs to be come obese while enjoying every minute of it. Among their fantastical creations are such oddities as the Voodoo doll, the Bacon Maple bar, and the Dirty Old Bastard... which is a lot better than it sounds, trust me.
Bacon maple bars
Look at that bacony goodness. I had three of these while I was visiting, and regretted not a single bite of it. There's only so much deliciousness in the world, and about 40% of it is allocated towards these little beauties. The salty-sweet flavor might take some getting used to, but for a practicing gourmand such as myself, it was heavenly.
Most fun you can have with your pants on.

I has a snack
Here's a delightful response to vegetarian cooking.
It's a little wider than I'm comfortable with. Live with it, I guess.

so, a women stole bacon from her workplace, hmm? Well, I can't say I wouldn't have done the same, if I worked in a restaurant. I wouldn't have stolen just 11 dollars worth of it, though. It would be the bacon heist of the century.

Yes, you would
Don't even try to deny it. This is the essence of delicious, the true face of god himself.
Actually, it's just modeling clay on top of a normal plate and saucer, but imagine if it were real!

fried ice cream
If you love fried stuff or sweet stuff, you'll love this idea. It originated in mexico, and it's moved all across the world since then.
It is best to prepare these the day before in the freezer or multiply the recipe and keep plenty on hand for anytime you need a gourmet dessert fast!
First, combine 1 cup of finely crushed cornflakes with 1/2 cupof sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Scoop an average sized ball of vanilla ice cream from a container, a quart of ice cream will be plenty for 6 servings. Roll the scoop of ice cream in the coating mixture and firmly press the ingredients into the ball. Wrap the coated ice cream in wax paper and return it to the freezer. Repeat this until you have the desired number of scoops and let them harden for 4 to 5 hours.
When you're ready to serve, heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 450° and fry the ice cream ball for about half a minute. Place the scoop in a bowl, drizzle a teaspoon of honey over the top, add whipped cream, a cherry, and enjoy!
If you're looking for quick and easy authentic Mexican dessert recipes, give fried ice cream a try! You can give it your own touch by using different flavors of ice cream, substituting crushed cookies for cornflakes, or by using chocolate, caramel, or even strawberries rather than honey.
